Melanie Harrington

Melanie Harrington is both the founder and the face of Dahlia May Flower Farm. A flower devotee from a young age, she grew up on the farm she now cultivates. Years of studies in floral design and horticulture paired with a wealth of experience in both greenhouses and flower shops have led Melanie back home to a life as farmer-florist, a term used to describe those skilled at both flower farming and floral design. Her love of travel has taken her across Europe. Inspiration gleaned from these travels has brought a European flower market esthetic to her distinctive displays. Always looking to expand her skills, Melanie has most recently studied under Erin Benzakein of Floret Flowers, one of North America's leaders in flower farming.

Melanie is very familiar with long hours and dirty hands – happily so! -- as she seeds and weeds, waters and harvests her abundant crops of chemical-free flowers. She also designs and delivers her bouquets and arrangements, and is the face you will see in her booth at the local farmers' market. She is known for her lush garden and her inspired design work, and delights in providing flowers for weddings, parties, and other events. She subscribes to the thought that flowers are food for the soul, and finds real joy in sharing her passion with local flower-loving customers.
