Sponsor a plant for a resident in Long Term Care: Our Community Christmas Gifting Program
In March of 2021 our farm started a program called ‘Give to the Community’. Our hope was that we could spread joy during this challenging year by bringing jars of fresh flowers to residents at local Nursing Homes, Long Term Care Homes, Group Homes, Hospices and Hospitals.
We know the residents and patients in these environments faced increased isolation during visitor restrictions made necessary by the pandemic over the last several years. We wanted these residents to know that their community was thinking of them.
We asked our customers and community to donate to cover the wholesale cost of these blooms, and our farm donated our time in labour and logistics to help these flowers reach as many Long Term Care residents as possible.
With the incredible help of our community, we were able to bring jars of fresh flowers to over 3500 residents in local Nursing Homes and Long Term Care Homes over the least 3 years.
Our community stepped up, and the outpouring of joy and gratitude from the residents who received these blooms was the highlight of our entire year here at the farm.
We are hoping that YOU will partner with us once again, to spread a little Christmas Cheer to these same Long Term Care, Hospital and Hospice residents.
We're collecting contributions to enable us to send a Kalanchoe or Christmas Cactus plant in a ceramic pot, along with a Holiday card, to residents in Long Term Care this December. All contributions will cover the wholesale cost of the plant and pot ($10 per plant). Our farm will be donating the labour and logistics to get these plants into the community. We are partnering with volunteers to deliver these plants.
Each $10 contribution will send one Kalanchoe or Christmas Cactus Plant to one Long Term Care resident.
Over the last three years, with your help and support, we've managed to send over 13,000 plants to residents in Long Term Care, Hospitals and Hospice at Christmas.
*Please note: We are not a registered charity, we are a small business working to do something special in the community. We are not a registered charity, therefore tax will be charged on these $10 plants. We appreciate your understanding.
*Please note: Individual gifts will not be able to be allotted to specific homes/residents. All contributions will go into a pool, which we will be allocating amongst the long-term care homes, hospitals and hospices in our community.
If you are a business or individual who would like to reach out and sponsor the residents at an entire long-term care home, please email us at info@dahliamay.com and we would be happy to make arrangements with you to do so.
